Social activity

I am committed to multidimensional development and helping others.

Help to others

I am committed to multi-dimensional support for development and help for others. I try to support youth entrepreneurship by cooperating with Gdańsk Business Incubator STARTER and taking part in such initiatives as Gdańsk Business Week or Gdynia Business Week. Social activity, helping others gives me a great sense of fulfillment and unearthly satisfaction.

#IIdwójkadlaLidzi

Social activity, helping others gives me a great sense of fulfillment and unearthly satisfaction. One of the actions I carried out last year was „dwójka dla Lidzi”. #lidziapower #dwojkadlalidzi #pomocdlalidzi. This was an action of looking for a bone marrow donor for my close friend, mentor and teacher from my school – Lidia Dysarz. The action echoed throughout Poland, and in June alone brought the DKMS Foundation over 15,000 new registrations in the bone marrow donor database. Unfortunately, despite enormous effort and finding 3 (!) „genetic twins”, Lidia passed. But! Everyone will pass, and she has gone in the power of enormous love! And how many people live and will live thanks to this action! This is the power of love that spills out above all else, breaks patterns, demolishes walls, illuminates the darkness

I am committed to multidimensional development and helping others.

Institute of Sirius and the Bright Side of the Night

In order to ensure maximum free access to professional psychological care, in cooperation with the City Hall in Sopot and with Urszula Jaryczewska I created prevention programs: Institute of Sirius, consultation point for young people and The Bright Side of Night, a project of “healing the health resort”, which Sopot is. Apart from professional psychological support provided on-site, the project included concerts and art workshops as an alternative to an unhealthy lifestyle.

Protest against education deform

As one of the 15 Teachers of the Year, I signed a letter to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. In the letter we demanded the immediate dismissal of the Minister of National Education Anna Zalewska because of “her educational policy, which led to unprecedented chaos in Polish schools and a nationwide teachers’ strike”.

Goodwill and respect first of all

I believe that one cannot be passive and ignore evil, and that is why I am speaking out on important social issues, such as combating discrimination, oppression, hatred and the defence of non-heteronormative people, and fighting for respect essential to every human being. After the attack on the President of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz, I conducted psycho-educational classes in all public schools in Sopot about the sources of speech of hatred and ways of dealing with it.

My activity was appreciated by readers of Gazeta Wyborcza, who chose me Man of the Year in the category “Exemplary conduct”. I was also nominated for the title of the Man of the Year of the “Dziennik Bałtycki” Journal. Finally, the title went to my very own student, 95-year-old Elżbieta Tatarkiewicz-Skrzyńska, a nurse and liaison officer of the Warsaw Uprising, a member of the Order of the Phoenix.

Support for LGBT+

After being selected as the Teacher of the Year, I received hundreds of congratulations and thanks from LGBT+ people and their families, including the “We, Parents” LGBTQIA Association of mothers, fathers and allies of LGBTQIA people. For my contribution to supporting LGBT+ people, I was on the list of 100 influential LGBT+ community members in Poland in 2018.

Juror

I have a great pleasure to sit on the jury of many prestigious competitions, including:

  • The Power of Power” organized by the “Kosmos dla dziewczynek” magazine, which aims to reward those who support girls;
  • #School2030 organized by the Social Educational Society, aimed at identifying the best vision of the Polish school in 2030;
  • Father Jan Kaczkowski’s glasses. I See No Obstacles”, organized by the Jan Kaczkowski Foundation, which aims to select courageous individuals, uncompromisingly fighting for equality, dignity and individual approach to other people.

Freedom and solidarity

In recognition of my actions I was mentioned in the Encyclopedia of Sopot, run by the Sopot Museum, and the Mayor of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, invited me to join the group of signatories of the Declaration of Freedom and Solidarity, signed in Gdańsk on June 4, 2019.

Although I’ve been involved in all these fields, I’d be happy to sit down and talk to anyone who has a problem and do my best to help them solve it. I often repeat a quote from the movie The Help”; You is kind, you is smart, you is important”. In this way I try to emphasize the unique qualities and important place that a person who comes to me has in the world.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
